1. Admit your spiritual condition before God. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” There is no person (with the exception of Jesus Christ) who does not have a sin problem. Jesus Christ tells us in John 8:34 that “whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.” Sin therefore separates us from God and is an enslaving force in our lives.
2. Admit your need for salvation. In Romans 6:23 we read “The wages of sin is death . . .” Because God’s judgment must fall upon sinners, it must fall upon us if our sin problem is not dealt with. We all are in great need of a savior — someone to deliver us from our sin.
3. Receive Jesus Christ as your savior. God knows our dilemma and through His great love has bridged the gap between our sinfulness and His holiness by sending His Son Jesus Christ to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Jesus spoke these words about Himself: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Pray this simple prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I believe that you died for my sins. I now turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and life to you. I receive you now as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you for saving me. Amen.
